US-PuertoRicans.org seeks to deepen understanding about Puerto Ricans in the U.S. It provides information and resources and encourages dialogue and discussion among users. Puerto Ricans on the Map Puerto Ricans live across the U.S. The Google map displays 2000 U.S. Census data. Red balloon markers show the number of Puerto Ricans in each state; yellow show Puerto Rican populations greater than 50,000 in selected cities; and green refers to selected cities with populations of less than 50,000. By visualizing the data, the balloons let the user understand immediately what census charts may fail to tell. History Matters Puerto Rican history is presented through two lenses. One focuses on major waves of migration to the U.S. since the 1800s. The other traces Puerto Rican political history from national formation to the present. Recurring themes of identity, citizenship, economic dislocation, migration and colonialism dominate the history. The timelines offer a springboard for discussion about current issues, explore the unifiers of the Puerto Rican experience, and present core knowledge not taught in schools or readily available to Puerto Ricans living in the U.S.
Two blogs focus on Puerto Rican culture and politics. Featured and Contributing Authors submit articles and other content, and registered users may post comments.
Ways of Seeing Gallery We see ourselves through our culture and political experience as well as through the eyes of others. This section presents short videos about the Puerto Rican experience. New videos as well as relevant videos from popular internet sites are centralized and presented in easily searcheable categories.

Visitors can view all content, search the site, respond to poll questions and register.
